In an interview with watch magazine Monochrome Watches Hubert Pellikaan said: ‘That’s the good thing when you’re doing it all by yourself. You’re allowed to do everything you like. And you can even put your name on it.’

It also means you can put the name of someone else on it if you think that person deserves all the attention. And so Hubert made a watch especially for the late obscure Chinese watch maker Kiu Tai Yu.

This watch is elegant and stands out at the same time. It has a 40 mm stainless steel case and Breguet-style hands.

It is a fitting – yet humble – tribute to the Chinese master, who gained a certain cult status in the 1990s within the watch enthousiast community.

Swiss movement

Watch enthousiasts will immediately recognize this movement as one of the most reliable and robust automatic movements from Switzerland.

It is also a very accurate movement, which is why it has been used for decades by even some of the most famous brands.

Still, standard is nog good enough for Hubert, so some finishing and regulation of the movement is done by Pellikaan timing.
